for establishment of World Class Oceanarium at Mamallapuram, Chennai on Public

The Department of Fisheries, Government of
Tamil Nadu intends to develop a world class Oceanarium at Mamallapuram in
Chennai on Public Private Partnership mode. Mamallapuram is located at a
distance of 56 Km south from the city of Chennai and is one of the major
tourist centres and classified as UNESCO world heritage site. The extent of
land available for the proposed development is 13.07 acres free from all
encumbrances. The potential concessionaire is proposed to be chosen through a
two-stage competitive bidding process.
The State Government will provide interest
free O&M loan of Rs. 30 crores cumulative to the developer during the first
three years of operation. The estimated capital cost of the project is Rs.258
Crores.
The Department of Fisheries (DoF), GoTN
invites 'Request for Qualifications' (RFQ) from eligible Developers on their
own or in Consortium, having a net worth of Rs. 64 Crores in preceding
financial year and Turnover of Rs. 258 Crores in preceding three financial
years experience of designing and commissioning at least 1 (one) Oceanarium
project having minimum water capacity of 2.25 million liters and consisting of
at least 1 (one) acrylic tunnel aquarium with moving walkway along with various
ancillary facilities like touch pool, marine mammal stadium, research
facilities etc., over the past 15 (Fifteen) financial years which can be also
demonstrated through a Techno Commercial agreement executed with a technical
partner having the experience.
