Pure Tech bags $4 million leak detection contract

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) awarded a leak detection contract award worth $4mn to Pure Technologies (Pure) over a three-year period commencing June 2014.
The contract facilitates leak detection other services on a significant area of Kahramaa's large-diameter pipeline network, which is unfavorable for the distribution of processed, desalinated water for home, industrial and commercial users.
All these operations will be handled by Pure, through its Abu Dhabi based set up. SmartBall technology a proprietary by Pure Tech will be employed for pipelines between 600mm to 1600mm in diameter during the contract duration. Daewoo awards Mitsubishis power generation plant in Korea
Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has been contract awarded a contract by Daewoo Engineering & Construction to supply two M501J gas turbines for the Pocheon combined cycle power plant, a gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power generation plant in South Korea. 
Daewoo Energy, a special purpose company affiliated with Daewoo E&C, will construct the gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power generation plant in Pocheon city, which is located about 45km northwest of Seoul. Under the contract, MHPS will deliver two M501J gas turbines, one steam turbine and three generators for the power plant, which is scheduled to go on stream in November 2016.
Designed using proprietary MHPS technologies, the 60Hz M501J gas turbines can attain world class level of efficiency and power generation capacity in systems of this type with turbine inlet temperatures of 1,600°C.
The GTCC utilizes high-temperature exhaust gas from the gas turbine to generate steam to run the steam turbine; it’s a high capacity power generation system which can generate power with a combination of gas and steam turbines.

Jamaica: Government awards $430-m contract for textbooks
The Ministry of Education’s National Textbook Loan Scheme for 2014/2015 gets an addition of $430 million contract award approved on Monday for the procurement and distribution of textbooks for students.
The local companies bags the award Kingston Bookshop Limited ($233,615,387), Carlong Publishers (Caribbean) Limited ($94,000,878), and Book Wizard Limited ($102,374,500).
The recent contract will be an addition to the Ministry of Education’s existing stock that is loaned to students in grades seven to eleven and are expected to be distributed to schools in the latter part of August. The earlier approval by the cabinet for the procurement of books for students in grades one to six, which are currently being distributed to primary schools ahead of the start of the new school year. The Ministry of Education will spend nearly $1 billion on the procurement of textbooks, this financial year.
New copies of textbooks will be allotted by schools after the rotation of five-year and seven-year. Local providers will assist in the repair works of textbooks during these periods according to the Ministry of Education. Lockheed wins F-35 procurement contract
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, a key division of Lockheed Martin Corporation, received a modification contract award worth $122.1 million from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).


This latest contract entailed the procurement of initial aircraft spares for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy and other international partners. Work under this contract is scheduled to complete by Dec 2016.


Development costs for the highly advanced and expensive F-35 JSF program are shared by the U.S. and its allies.
