Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has been contract awarded a contract by Daewoo
Engineering & Construction to supply two M501J gas turbines for the
Pocheon combined cycle power plant, a gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC)
power generation plant in South Korea.
Daewoo Energy, a special purpose company
affiliated with Daewoo E&C, will construct the gas turbine combined
cycle (GTCC) power generation plant in Pocheon city, which is located
about 45km northwest of Seoul. Under the contract, MHPS will deliver two
M501J gas turbines, one steam turbine and three generators for the
power plant, which is scheduled to go on stream in November 2016.
Designed using proprietary MHPS
technologies, the 60Hz M501J gas turbines can attain world class level
of efficiency and power generation capacity in systems of this type with
turbine inlet temperatures of 1,600°C.
The GTCC utilizes high-temperature
exhaust gas from the gas turbine to generate steam to run the steam
turbine; it’s a high capacity power generation system which can generate
power with a combination of gas and steam turbines.
