Indian engineering and construction giant Larsen &
Toubro (L&T) announced on Friday that its Power Transmission &
Distribution Business has won a contract valued at around $175 million for the
construction of a major electricity grid station in the Sultanate. The client
is Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), a subsidiary of Nama Group,
which owns and operates the nation’s Main Interconnected System (MIS).
“Consolidating its position in the substation segment of
highest voltage in Oman, the business has secured an order from Oman
Electricity Transmission Company SAOC for turnkey construction of the 400/132
kV Al Qabil Grid Station and associated works,” the company said in a
statement. The Division also secured two more orders from reputed customers for
the design, supply, construction and commissioning of five 132 kV substations
in the United Arab Emirates, it added. Larsen & Toubro is an Indian
multinational engaged in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing
and financial services with $16 billion in revenue.
