S&C Electric Co. receives a contract for 3.6 MW solar project in Massachusetts grid

Green States Energy has contract awarded  $11 million project to S&C Electric Company, a global leader in renewable energy integration, to design and set up a 3.6 MW solar photovoltaic farm in Devens, Massachusetts. This project will be the third plant constructed by S&C for GSE and will influence a standardized electrical system design to link the plant to the grid.

The substation linkage consists an integrated switching and control solution placed on S&C’s field-proven System VI™ Switchgear. The entire solution excludes the need for a independent control house in the substation and related civil works, and use of standardized designs will also deduct engineering and installation costs for the substation.

According to Dan Girard, director—Business Development, Renewable Energy and Energy Storage, S&C - The new standardized solution not only cuts upfront expenses, it also facilitates reducing the time frame needed to engineer and build a renewable energy plant. The owners will recognize higher short term revenues and boost returns on investment, by getting the plant into service sooner.
