BAE Systems gets $584 million shipbuilding contract

BAE Systems, a defence company has been awarded by Britain’s navy a contract award worth $584 million (£348 million,436 million euros), to build three ships.

The three Offshore Patrol Vessels would be utilised to combat terrorism, piracy and smuggling in the waters around Britain as well as securing the nation’s interests overseas.

QinetiQ bags £33 million UK MoD simulation contract
QinetiQ, the defence, aerospace and security company has been awarded by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) a five-year, £33 million contract award to facilitate simulation training to the UK military.
Air and land mission training has been provided by QinetiQ for the last five years at Air Battlespace Training Centre at RAF Waddington in Lincoln, assisted by sub-contractors such as Boeing and Plexsys.
This recent contract will check the company carry on to deliver the training programme, officially known as Distributed Synthetic Air Land Training 2 (DSALT2). Front-line personnel gets the training formerly they are positioned on operations.

SBB to fund $1.66 billion in Ticino rail network

SWISS Federal Railways (SBB) will invest approximately $1.66 billion (SFr 1.5 billion) on refurbishing stations, restoring infrastructure and gaining new rolling stock for Ticino, Switzerland’s southernmost canton by 2020.

Alstom supplied the first of eight ETR 610 tilting trains, which will move into operations between Zürich and Milan in December, was named Ticino at contract award a ceremony in Lugano on August 7. Simultaneously, the recently remodeled historic part of Lugano station was inaugurated by SBB CEO Mr Andreas Meyer and the mayor of Lugana Mr Marco Borradori. India permits foreign investment in rail market

The Indian rail market worth ranging $11.6 billion (Rs 700 billion) is now available to global manufacturers and investors, following cabinet approval for so-called Foreign Direct Invesment (FDI).

Foreign participation allowed by FDI in a range of activities consisting high-speed, suburban corridor schemes, signalling, and infrastructure projects, as well as rolling stock manufacturing, but it eliminates investment in rail functions and safety. Instructions to foreign investors interested in FDI are being sustained and will be announced soon. It is expected that the inculcation of foreign funds and technology will boost the execution of big projects tender such as the long anticipated scheme to construct electric and diesel locomotive factories at Madhepura and Marhoura respectively in the eastern state of Bihar. Toshiba awards Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear complex project to DSIC

An advanced technology provider of security and detection systems, Decision Sciences International Corporation (DSIC) has been awarded a contract  by Toshiba Corporation (Toshiba) to assist the reclamation of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear complex with the appliance of DSIC’s radical muon tracking detectors.

The initial contract award states, DSIC will design, manufacture and supply a detector and tube arrays that apt into the power plant building. The detector will be component of Toshiba’s entire Fukushima Complex project to regulate the location and condition of the nuclear fuel inside the plant. Ed Bell Construction Co. receives $9.3 million Horizon road widening contract

As part of the continuing attempt to improve state roadways and deal congestion, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) approved a contract award for construction to broaden FM 3097 (Horizon Road) in Rockwall.

Ed Bell Construction Company has been awarded with a contract of $9.3 million. NOAA awards contract worth $250 million for hydrographic survey

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Coast Survey (OCS) has awarded a prime contract award to Leidos, a national security, health and engineering solutions company to deliver hydrographic surveying services.

The overall contact value goes to $250 million for all awardees and has a five-year period of performance, the multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract was awarded under the NOAA/OCS Hydrographic Surveying other Services contract.
