U.S. DOE awards Fluor $420 million contract for Paducah Decommission and Decontamination

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) selected Fluor Corporation (FLR) for the next phase of cleanup at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant (GDP) in Paducah, Kentucky. Fluor is the main contractor for the management, integration and execution of the deactivation and post-GDP decommissioning remediation procedures at the Paducah site. It is expected that the new contract award will be fruitful in reducing environmental risks and generate local job opportunities. The approximate value of the contract, which Fluor reserved in the third quarter of 2014, is around $420 million over a duration of three years.

Shimizu Maeda bags $232 million metro contract

The Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) has awarded a $US 232 million (Yen 23.7bn) to the Shimizu Maeda Joint Operation, Japan, to build a section of the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City.

The scope of work includes Package1B of a 2.6km subway section of Line 1 between Ben Thanh Market and Ba Son Shipyard. Package 1B constitutes the section from Opera House to Ba Son Shipyard, which is around 2km long tender and covers the construction of a four-level station to a depth of 40m at Opera House. Work is likely to commence in August and will take 56 months to finish.

Biffa gets Epping Forest’s £50 million waste contract

Epping Forest District Council has awarded a £50 million waste and recycling contract to Biffa Group Ltd.
The council is one of UK’s top recycling authorities, stands 14 in Defra’s 2012-13 local authority recycling league table, expects the 10-year contract award will facilitate increase its recycling rates from the existing rate of 58.8%.

Biffa will replace SITA UK from November this year. Nine local authorities expanded and rolled over their contracts with the firm this year.Tender Over their remaining terms the extensions are worth around £190 million.

In 2013, around 51,500 tonnes of domestic waste were gathered from the district’s 54,000 properties, of which 30,279 tonnes of materials were sent for recycling, composting or reuse. Qatar: GDI awards N-KOM $110 million liftboat contract

A subsidiary of Gulf International Services (GIS), Gulf Drilling International (GDI) Limited, has awarded two contracts worth $110 million to Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM), a joint venture shipyard between Nakilatand Singapore's Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M).

The first contract award is to manufacture a self-propelled and self-elevating liftboat, which is tailored for field transit activities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in water depths of up to 65 meters.

Sacyr Industrial gets $16 million Electricity Substation contract in Mexico

The Federal Electricity Commission (Comisión Federal de la Electricidad) has awarded a $15.75 million contract award for two electricity lines and three substations in Monterrey (Mexico) to the consortium comprising Sacyr Industrial and Mondisa.

Bahrain: Great Lakes bags $35 million land reclamation contract

US-based Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (“Great Lakes”), the dominant contractor of dredging services and a leading provider of environmental and remediation other services has been awarded a contract worth $35 million by the Ministry of Works in Bahrain.

The contract envelops phases one and two of a development project within Hidd Port. Envia Systems receives $7.7 million contract for advanced EV battery tech

The United States Advanced Battery Consortium LLC (USABC), a cooperative authority regulated by Chrysler Group, Ford Motor Co. and General Motors, has awarded a $7.7 million advanced battery technology development contract award for electric vehicle (EV) applications to Envia Systems situated in Newark, California.

Consolidated LISC award likely to be out in September

The most-awaited award of a multibillion-dollar contract award to assist the U.S Air Force’s two major launch ranges has been pushed back again, this time until September 2014.

Award of the Launch and Test Range System Integrated Support Contract (LISC) had been scheduled for the second quarter of 2014 after the other service admitted late last summer that an awaited 2013 award was not going to happen. That delay gave the service more time to decide the portion of the contract to be kept reserved for small businesses.

Samsung C&T gets $678 million Mumbai convention centre deal

The construction and trading arm of Samsung Group, Samsung C&T has won the US$ 678 million contract award from conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) for the construction of the Dhirubhai Ambani International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DAICEC) in Mumbai, India.

The DAICEC will be a mixed-use development situated with the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), a commercial complex in the suburbs of Mumbai. Argentina and China inks $2.1 billion Belgrano Cargas loan

At the time of the state visit of Chinese president Mr.Xi Jinping to Buenos Aires on July 18, China and Argentina inked a $US 2.1bn loan agreement, which will be utilised to finance the revival of the metre-guage Belgrano Cargas network.

SNC-Lavalin Inc. bags $425 million EPCM contract

Stornoway Diamond Corporation (TSX-SWY; the “Corporation” or “Stornoway”) is delighted to announce that it has awarded a contract award for Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) to SNC-Lavalin Inc. for the Renard Diamond Project, situated near Otish Mountains in north-central Quebec.

The contract worth at $425 million calls for SNC-Lavalin to deliver EPCM services for on-site utilities such as the liquid natural gas power plant, the processing plant building, service buildings, water treatment facilities and on-site infrastructure.

Ramirent and Zeppelin enters joint venture for Fehmarnbelt tunnel project 

Rental companies Ramirent and Zeppelin have signed a joint venture agreement to combine resources and competency in a bid to support development of the world’s longest plunged tunnel - the Fehmarnbelt project.

The €5.5 billion Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link, connecting the Danish and German coast, is designed to stretch 18 km, comprising of a four-lane motorway and a double-track rail line. The construction will commence from the summer of 2015 and likely to be completed by 2021.tender

Saipem awards Sembawang Shipyard $480 million contract for 2 FPSO conversions

Sembawang Shipyard a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine has secured a Floating Storage Production Offloading (FPSO) conversion contract award worth about $480 million (SGD 600 million) from Saipem SA, France for the conversion of two FPSOs for the Kaombo Project in Offshore Angola.

This epic contract has been awarded to Sembawang Shipyard on the basis of its capabilities and deep-rooted track record in the field of FPSO conversion, modification and upgrading work. Posco to build $15 billion Queensland coal line

WPS retains $484 million government contract
WPS Health Insurance announced on Friday, that it has secured a $484 million major government contract award renewal over six years that will help up hold various hundred jobs.

The contract renewal will facilitate WPS to carry out its administrative activities of TRICARE for Life, a Medicare supplement program that serves about 2 million military retirees over the age of 65.
