The
US Navy has awarded Boeing a $296 million initial contract for the
procurement of essential parts for the production of 12 additional
full-rate production (FRP) lot 2 P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime
aircraft.
The aircraft will be utilized by the US Navy and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
The recent contract, active through to
April 2018, begins the funding for a second batch of FRP jets,
consisting eight for the US Navy and four for the RAAF.
Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance
Aircraft Programme Office's (PMA 290) partner programme manager captain Scott
Dillon, commented, that we are highly energized about this contract
award because it not only will carry on to supply P-8s to the US Navy,
but it will also supply the initial set of P-8s to the Australian
Government. The future of the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance
community is extending to create history with the 15 P-8As already
supplied to the US Navy fleet, and now with our Australian cooperative
programme partners. Read complete story at http://www.tendersontime.com/blog-detail/boeing-receives-296-million-initial-contract-12-additional-p-8-aircraft-291.php
