The
Home Office has contract awarded Thales a £3.8m contract to facilitate the IT
infrastructure underpinning its non-EU foreign nationals permits.
Under the two-year contract the IT
security firm will deliver and manage a Public Key Infrastructure Shared
other Service (PKISS) to assist the Home Office’s production of Biometric
Residence Permit (BRP) cards.
All non-EU foreign residents gets the card as a mode of identification for any stay in the UK of more than six months.
The card holds name, date and place of
birth details and a fingerprint and a facial image, as well as a record
