The
Star Software Technology Company Limited of China has been awarded by
the Government of Zambia a US $9 million contract award for the supply,
installation and commissioning of phase one of the National Digital
Terrestrial Broadcasting System within the nation.
The initial tender was canceled by the
Government, through then Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent
Secretrary, Emmanuel Mwamba, in September last year considering advice
from the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) upon evaluating the
procurement process for the tender.
The contract worth $9,554,124.49 got
signed between Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary
Bert Mushala and the StarTimes Group Eastern Africa region chief
representative, Ken Xie in Lusaka.
Phase one of the project activities
includes installation of equipment along the railway line from
