U.S. Navy awards $49.6 million contract for USS George Washington

The Newport News Shipbuilding division of Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has been awarded with a $49.6 million contract award to start planning for work on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). Work under the contract includes planning, engineering and shipboard inspections for work related with the defueling of the ship.
