Construction of Upgrading and Extension Works for Mzimba Water Supply System, Republic of Malwai

The Northern Region Water Board of The Republic of Malawi has issued an invitation for
Prequalification for the construction of upgrading and extension works for Mzimba water supply system. A general procurement notice for the integrated Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project for Mzimba Town was issued in the UN Development Business Issue of 20 August 2015 under reference no. AfDB573-08/15. Tendersontime, a leading business information provider is the first agency to report this development.
The Government of the Republic of Malawi has sought a line of credit from the African Development Fund (AOF) and OPEC fund for International Development (OFID). A portion of these funds are to be used to make payments under this contract for the construction of upgrading and extension works for Mzimba Water Supply System.
The scope of this project includes material supply, installation and construction of 2 flocculation units. One of them is for the existing sedimentation tanks and another one is for the new sedimentation tanks. A raw water pump station needs to be installed to boost the pressure of raw water. The scope further includes rapid gravity filters, a 120m' backwash water tank, air blower, 57km pipelines with diameters ranging from 63mm to 500mm, water storage tanks of capacities 100m3, 500m3, 2,000m3 and 3,000m3, clear water pumping stations and
chemical dosing house and all accessories that may be required.
The estimated time for the supply and installation is 18 months.
The prequalification criteria for eligibility require the contractors to have a proven track record of five years. Two similar contracts should have been successfully executed in this five year period and a minimum average annual turnover of US$8 million must have been achieved in the last three years
More information and inspection of the application form can be done in the office of the Northern Region Water Board between 7.30 am to 2.20 pm local time. The deadline for the submission of the application forms is 14.00 hours on 19th January 2016. The applications will then be immediately opened in the presence of applicants or their representatives who choose to attend.
