Statoil awards contract worth £3.8 million Hywind offshore wind farm
Statoil has awarded the Norwegian company, Aibel the contract award for engineering of substructures for the Hywind Scotland Pilot Park offshore wind farm in an agreement that is worth around NOK40 million (£3.8 million).

The project’s scope of work includes Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study and consequent detailed Engineering & Management Assistance (EMA) phase for the development of substructures for five new floating wind turbines. Petrofac wins $700 million oil deal in Kuwait
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) awarded Petrofac, the international oil and gas contracting specialist a $700 million oil contract award in Kuwait.

The scope of works involves the engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning of KOC’s GC29 gathering centre, the project is likely to be completed over a time span of three years.

GC29 will be capable of producing up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day, with associated gas and water facilities is one of three gathering centres being constructed, to support KOC’s plans to boost and maintain oil production over the next five years. Kirow bags Japanese rail crane orders
Germany-based Kirow, has acquired its first orders for rail cranes from Japan with contracts award to deliver vehicles for both the conventional 1067mm-gauge network and standard-gauge Shinkansen lines.

Two Multi Tasker 810 cranes has been ordered by Itochu Construction Machinery, which will be applied for track building on JR East lines in the Tokyo region. Star Software Tech acquires $9 million Govt Digital TV contract
The Star Software Technology Company Limited of China has been awarded by the Government of Zambia a US $9 million contract award for the supply, installation and commissioning of phase one of the National Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting System within the nation.

The initial tender was canceled by the Government, through then Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretrary, Emmanuel Mwamba, in September last year considering advice from the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) upon evaluating the procurement process for the tender.

The contract worth $9,554,124.49 got signed between Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Bert Mushala and the StarTimes Group Eastern Africa region chief representative, Ken Xie in Lusaka.

Tabreed and MIP bags $258 million cooling services contract
UAE-based National Central Cooling Company, Tabreed is heading a consortium includes government-owned agency Mubadala Infrastructure Partners (MIP) has secured a concession to solely operate district cooling other services for the southern part of Al Maryah Island.

The 30-years contract award worth around $285mn (AED1.05bn), covers the new Central Business news District area, comprising Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, the Galleria Mall, Sowwah Square Towers, Al Hilal Bank and the Four Seasons and Rosewood hotels. EIB lends €240 million for Warsaw infrastructure development
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved €240 million long term loan agreement to finance municipal infrastructure projects in Warsaw, Poland.

The financing is aimed to support the city’s 2014-2019 investment pertner programme, consisting projects related to education, mobility schemes, social and healthcare.
Construction of the city’s inner ring road and cycle routes, revamping of streets and modification of the street infrastructure are also included as part of investment programme.

NDCO lands on a deal with PetroEdge

EU funds £240m White Rose plan
Europe’s one of the first carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects its the White Rose plan. It is being designed by Capture Power, that is a consortium of Alstom, BOC and Drax in cooperation with National Grid.

When completed, the plant should occupy approximately 90% of its carbon dioxide emissions, and store two million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year beneath the North Sea seabed.

A new 426MW clean coal power plant with a huge CO2 transport and storage network is to be constructed as per the plan.

White Rose is a sole CCS plan in Europe to be allocated funding underneath a NER300 partner programme, a European Commission account for innovative renewable energy technology.

Haya Water awards OMR38 million Amerat Water Reuse projects
Haya Water awarded contracts award worth OMR38 million for the third and fourth package of the Amerat Water Reuse Project on Monday.

The contract signing ceremony took place at the Muscat Municipality building.
The contracts involves installation of networks for water treatment in the north and eastern areas of Amerat
.
The chairman of Muscat Municipality, Eng Mohsen bin Mohammed al Sheikh and chairman of Haya Water Board signed the contracts in the presence of directors general of the executing companies.

Eng Hussain bin Hassan Abdul Hussain, CEO of Haya Water was also present at the signing ceremony.

The Consolidated Contractors Company, Oman was assigned with the northern area project. IPL and Manhattan Atrium bags £9m Framework Contract 
The Environment Agency (UK) has contract awarded IPL and Manhattan Atrium a £9m framework contract to employ a new system to conduct the upkeep of its flood and coastal defence assets.

The first phase of activities under the framework will be to engage Manhattan Atrium’s Enterprise Asset Management System, which will convert and consolidate the management of these important assets.

The four-year partner programme will facilitate the Environment Agency to lend more funds on the expenditure of these vital assets by deducting the administrative expense of maintenance planning, delivery and reporting.

All across England, the Environment Agency has more than 150,000 flood and coastal defence assets, and the new system will facilitate it a single view of all the national maintenance activity, further facilitating to develop efficient prioritised schedules on the basis of regional need and available finance.

A full service IT organisation, IPL will deliver the programme and Manhattan Atrium, which is proficient in the development, implementation and support of a leading, fully-integrated Enterprise Asset Management system. As the main contractor, IPL will handle the project, and facilitate Business Intelligence and Java development competency to develop the connections between Manhattan Atrium’s off-the-shelf Asset Management platform and other Environment Agency systems. Voestalpine receives Rota-3 linepipe plates contract from Petrobras
Voestalpine Grobblech has acquired a further major contract award in Brazil, after a planning and arbitration process lasting more than two years.

The Rota-3 project will set up a deep-ocean pipeline near Rio de Janeiro at depths of up to 2,500 metres beneath sea level.

IFC funds $100 million in ACWA Power
Saudi Arabia-based ACWA Power gets $100 million cash injection from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a private sector branch of the World Bank, through a subscription to a new share issue.

International Financial Corporation (IFC), which is already a lender and co-investor with ACWA in several major projects, has signed up to acquire newly issued shares in the company.

Saudi government established ACWA Power with a view to strengthen private sector investment into Kingdom’s power & water sector.

It is owned by eight Saudi conglomerates, beside the Kingdom's Public Investment Fund and the Saudi Public Pensions Agency.

German firm wins $28 million wastewater treatment project in Punjab
Passavant Energy & Environment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Drake & Scull International (DSI) PJSC of Germany, has signed two deals for a combined value of $28 million (AED103 million) to build and operate the two wastewater treatment plants in Punjab region of India.

The new contracts award form part of the Amritsar Sewerage Project in Punjab, where the Frankfurt-based Passavant Energy & Environment will undertake design, build, install, test and commission the plants, as well as inspect their operations for a five-year duration, this will further bolster the company’s emerging presence in the subcontinent, and will help to strengthen its position in India.

Water will be treated through the use of Activated Sludge Treatment Process, this will have a capacity of 95 million litres per day (MLD). The work will be executed in Northern and Southern Amritsar.

Skanska gets $78 million power plant contract in the U.S
Skanska has inked an engineering, procurement and construction contract award  for a combined power plant with an existing power client in the Midwest region of the United States. The project’s total cost is $127 million, about SEK 825 million. Skanska will incorporate its 60 per cent stake of the project value, $78 million, about SEK 510 million, in order bookings for Skanska USA Civil for the third quarter of 2014.

The Skanska-led joint venture project with Burns & McDonnell, involves the engineering, procurement and construction of a new gas turbine for power generation and a heat recovery steam generator for steam production.

Galfar retains $100 million ODC contract from PDO
The north Oman off-plot delivery contract award (ODC) by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) which was awarded to Galfar Engineering and Contracting Co in May 2005, has been subjected a variation to contract (VTC) to extend the contract for another one year from August 2014 to August 2015. The new contract’s extension value is estimated to be around $100 million.

The recent variation to contract to expand the contract, the earlier variation of which had been until August 2014, improves Galfar’s stake and reliability as PDO’s decisive contractor in the awarded contract to provide support so as to assure that oil delivery and flows continue to facilitate the sultanate with its prime source of revenue generation.

This complex project has been conducted by Galfar in the northern regions of Oman, covering various locations, including Fahud, Qarn Alam, Yibal and Lekhwair, stretching an area of more than 200km by 200km, and facilitating maintenance other services in design, civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation activities.

Hyundai E&C bags $715 million utilities deal
Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co has been awarded by Mirfa Project Co, a unit of Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority a $715.4 million (723.9 billion won) order to repair and install power and water treatment plants in the UAE.

The South Korean builder said in the regulatory filing the contract award is likely to be completed by April 2017, but the date was subject to change.

ASM Research lands on $162 million deal to update VA’s VistA
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has been awarded ASM Research, an Accenture Federal Services Company, a three-year, $162 million contract award to support the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) Clinical Application and Enterprise Core other Services.

VistA is the award winning health IT sytem by VA, facilitating an unified inpatient and outpatient Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to improve quality medical care for veterans and their families.

The VistA Core project functioning is developed to boost and expand veteran healthcare services. Work covered by the contract provides greater interoperability of systems and healthcare records and will match the highest safety standards.

ASM also aims to update VistA’s Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), facilitating a modern, web-based access to patient records, a feature of VistA that facilitates clinicians, managers, support staff and researchers an integrated patient record management system, which engages a single interface for physicians to manage patient care and records.

LACMTA inks Regional Connector and double track design contracts
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) has sealed a contract award with a Skanska and Traylor Brothers, Inc. joint venture for the construction of the Regional Connector in down town Los Angeles, as well as awarded a design contract for as Metrolink double track project.

The $918 million-contract for the Regional Connector project comprises of the design and construction of a 1.86-mile (3-kilometer) double track light-rail transit subway in downtown Los Angeles with three new stations. Construction work will commence immediately and is likely to be accomplished in October 2020. Skanska USA Civil will engage its $574 million share in its second-quarter bookings, as per the company officials.

To finalize the design of a double track project from Raymer to Bernson along the Ventura County Line of Metrolink, a $6.5-million contract was awarded to J.L. Patterson & Associates, Inc. (JLP).

RUAG Space gets Ariane 5 payload fairing contract
The satellite launch company, Arianespace has selected RUAG Space to manufacture payload fairings contract award for all Ariance 5 launches.

The agreement is worth than CHF100m ($112.25m) was signed in Zurich by RUAG Space Switzerland senior vice-president Holger Wentscher and Arianespace chairman and CEO Stéphane Israël and covers the provision of Ariane 5 payload fairings through 2019.

The payload fairing, placed on the tip of the launch vehicle, is developed to protect satellites on the launch pad and all along the initial trajectory through Earth’s atmosphere.

RUAG Space has been collaborated with the European launcher programme since the beginning, starting with the first liftoff in December 1979, all 217 Ariane rockets launched to date have included RUAG fairings.

According to Holger Wentscher - Payload fairings are an important source of revenue for RUAG Space, which is why this contract is so vital.
