The
Newfoundland and Labrador government says Pavex Ltd. has been awarded a
project to undertake $37.2 million to pave 60 kilometres between Happy
Valley-Goose Bay and Churchill Falls this year, in order to improve the
key transportation infrastructure in Labrador.
The company will also undertake asphalt
repairs on Hamilton River Road and widening and paving of three
kilometres at the Trans-Labrador Highway.
The contract award also involves the paving of
80 kilometres between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cartwright Junction,
which will be done in 2015.
The combination of such large projects
in one generates the opportunity for operational adaptabilities and a
better overall cost. This approach has proven very adequate and
interests the citizen of the province. The project will support the
government’s commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure
across Newfoundland and Labrador in a timely and cost effective way,
says, Nick McGrath, Transportation and Works Minister.
The completion of the final portion of
the Trans Labrador Highway between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cartwright
Junction will make a critical link safe and impact the region in a
positive manner. This major investment will link up communities and
expand new opportunities for businesses and residents.
To date, an investment of more than $500
million has been made in the Trans Labrador Highway and has resulted in
463 kilometres of paved highway that links communities and creates new
opportunities.Read complete story at http://www.tendersontime.com/blog-detail/pavex-ltd-receives-372-million-road-work-project-newfoundlandnd-labrador-41.php
