The
operations have begun at a new 20 million gallons per day (MIGD)
desalination plant at Al Hamriya by Sharjah Electricity and Water
Authority (SEWA).
The facility costing around AED 446
million ($120 million) was launched by Dr Rashid Obaid Jumaa Al Leem,
chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) on Sunday.
A project for construction of deep sea
water intake and pump house to feed the new plant has also been
completed, with the project value of AED 140 million.
According to Al Leem – The new plant is
one of the critical projects started by SEWA to fulfill the water
requirements of the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, Emirates Industrial
