Henkel
Construction Co. of Mason City will be primary contractor of the new
emergency services center at the J Street corner and Highway 69.
The overall estimated contract award value
goes to $3.1 million including the architectural fees and other
expenditures. Among the eight bidders for the project with a bid of $2.7
million, Henkel Construction submitted the lowest base bid. The Forest
City Council has awarded the contract to Henkel Construction Co. along
an alternate bid for the roof that reduced total construction pricing by
$139,000.
With the roof expense reduction, the
project falls under the estimated price of $2.7 million. The new center
will house the Ambulance other Service and Fire Department. Funds are being
raised for the center by the Emergency service groups.
Mark Johnson, Fire Chief, Forest City is
expecting an additional raise of $200,000 for the building. Descent
amount of fund are already available.
If fundraising tasks are not met,
discussion at the council meeting recommended using a fund set aside for
capital expenditure like fire trucks to assist cover costs.
At June 16 meeting the next step in the building process is to be approved. A speculated completion date is set for June 2015.
A single story building will be modeled facing west toward U.S. Highway 69. Read complete story at http://www.tendersontime.com/blog-detail/henkel-construction-co-gets-contractward-emergency-center-21.php
