OGC announces $93.5mn gas pipeline contract
Oman Gas Company is the Sultanate's natural gas transportation company; wholly-owned by Oman Oil Company has announced the gas pipeline supply contract award for the Duqm Economic Zone with an estimated project value goes to $93.5 million (OMR 36 million).
OGC are held responsible for delivering natural gas to the dynamic economic sectors and major consumers including domestic, power and desalination plants, methanol, petrochemical, fertiliser, refineries, steel and cement plants. 
The 36-inch pipeline will run for 230 kilometres will serve the specifications of Duqm Economic Zone, and is regarded as one of the major infrastructure projects at present in the region.
The tender for the construction activities will be announced soon, the entire project is likely to be completed in 2018 and will be ready to serve the Duqm refinery, which will potentially be the first gas consumer at the region, says, Mansoor Al Abdali, acting general manager for engineering at Oman Gas Company.
The company has also declared for the first time that the internal and external coating for the pipes will be undertaken by the local companies.
